MAME ships with a hiscore lua plugin, and the hiscore file.
Be warned tho, it can cause significant instability in some games, as most were not coded to expect non-default scores on startup, it is afterall, a giant ugly hack to add features that the games didn't originally have.
If you want a proper stable experience, using it is not recommended, write your scores on a piece of paper.
