MAME Off-centre steering problem + Raw FFB?
05/27/18 11:46 PM

At the moment I'm working on a custom USB IO board to interface my Model 2 driving cab to MAME and others for temporary fix but I'm running into an issue with MAME.

Essentially due to a lot of small niggles, the steering reports about 25% from full left at centre, 0% at full left and about 45% at full right. Now I'm aware I could possibly calibrate the wheel within Windows 7's USB control panel applet but I cannot get the applet to register the driving controls even though it's a generic USB HID driver and all other programs register it fine.

I'm also aware it's possibly due to my IO board with it's readings but it is currently set to calibrate when you exceed the preset extremes (if(x > preset) preset = x etc.) so to this end, its the best I can do.

Does MAME have any ability for min-maxing values or to artificially calibrate a joystick?

Second, is there any current support for raw FFB output? Not in the Windows API sense but say how the Model-X series did with 8 outputs and 8 inputs or even serial commands? I'm aware I could just interpret Window's API commands (and likely will in a future project) but for the moment, it would be nice to use the working drive board within the cab (I have both the Z80 based controller and also a separate motor board with input pins for controlling direction and force). Using either would be ideal for me
