no, if you want modern MAME to look like ass then the option is there for you

note, the way many of these filters work is inherently incompatible with how games generate video signals, so there's no guarantee it will work in all cases (as somebody already noted, you're not going to want to be using it with SNES in MAME as the shader doesn't understand the pixel doubling properly) and likewise there's no guarantee it will stay around forever either, but yes, it works like that out the box.
the proper CRT shaders are also there, and do the games much more justice
