I built my MAME cab a long time ago. Everything worked perfectly for years and had no reason to update. Updating MAME wouldn't really have benefited me in any way (if it ain't broke, don't fix it) and would have required me to endlessly correct, rename, download new rom sets, along with recompiling it to disable the "TYPE OK" nag screen. Maybe this has changed in recent years but everything worked just the way I wanted so I never bothered to risk screwing something up by updating when it wasn't necessary. In fact, installing an update is what caused this problem, I should have left well enough alone!
