Yeah, I thought so a few hours ago, too. Then I spent a few hours picking at what I thought was low-hanging fruit for optimization in the Hyperstone core, and wound up making the damn thing about 15% slower in the process.
I'm going to defer to R. Belmont here in that nobody really knows anymore what the hell will make a particular compiler or CPU happy.
