I'd recommend creating a MAMETesters.org bug for these changes, original poster, if you aren't capable of editing the sourcecode and submitting a pull request yourself on Github. That way it can be tracked better than a random post on MAMEWorld Forums.
The severity of such a change over at MAMETesters.org is rather low though, to be honest. Additionally, setnames are rarely changed for clarification purposes, usually more often to reflect changes in the relatively arbitrary "parent"/"clone" relationships.
General rules of thumb for MAME applicable here: - "Name" field is comprised of the full title as seen on the title screen. - software list shortname "romset names" often cue off of the arcade platform, using the element of least surprise, ie. Namco/Midway Pac-Man arcade, pacman, is named pacman on all the other console and computer platforms on which it appears.
