I've enjoyed this latest season. The problem lies in that everyone was just go amped up for it that it makes sense that it feels like it is not living up to all the hype that surrounded it. I look at it as the family dynamic changing and the people are changing as a result and slowly being shaped into new personalities (or latent character qualities are taking over). Just enjoy the ride.
