>mameworld forums left ztnet in 2003
Yep. My mistake with this part. I knew KC and Roc had MW opting out, but forgot exactly when. I am fairly certain that MW was hosting Haze's older blog and Haze's blog kept getting pounded with everyone wanting to see CPS-3 updates. twisty had to pull the plug a couple times on Haze's MW hosted wip site to lessen bandwidth usage.

There has really only been one kiddie influx ever, that was >cps2 (other than console emulation fights in the 90s, but I wasn't even around for those).
I thought old mame.net was still around up until about early 2008 until Aaron Giles closed it.
While CPS-2 was the biggest draw and maybe NEOGEO as a runner up, it seemed CPS-3 was also fairly sizeable. iirc When Haze had a wip update with CPS-3 protection finally figured out, the comments section was somewhere between 500 to 700 comments. It was a sizeable number. This was before Haze and others could begin work on improving the emulation of CPS-3 hardware.
