***** SOLVED ***** (see addendum below this message)
Hello, I'm trying to solve this issue. I am trying to run again MAME and MAMEUIfx64 on my workstation computer. While I was testing HyperTATE, I ran the setup64bit first and allowed all utilites installed. After tweaking the drive letter since I don't have a D:\ drive, I was successful to run the HyperSpin system, but every time I ran a MAME game, it froze. Then I tried running MAMEUIfx64 and it, too, froze with a black screen. I downloaded the lastest MAME version and that didn't work. Same result, black screen. I started looking for answers as to what is blocking it from running. Although I tried to re-install DirectX multiple times including using an app to rollback, re-install, they still do not work. I even tried uninstalling and re-installing the Nvidia video drivers & apps and got nowhere. I had a fresh install of MAME, and that, too, failed to run. I am running out of options.
Running Windows 10 with DirectX 12 pre-installed Since I solved the problem I removed the details for security & protection.
EDIT: I solved the problem. I installed the app "DirectX Happy Uninstall" and clicked Rollback. After the rollback, it prompted me to reboot. Tested the first MAME app and it worked! Tested MAMEUIfx64 and it worked as well! This app is shareware, so a fee is required to perform the majority of actions. What I did wrong was clicked Rollback, reboot, reinstalled 9.0c and failed to run. Re-installing the video drivers had no effect. I should have taken 1 step at a time. But, should rollback fail then re-install the video drivers, reboot, re-launch Happy Uninstall and click rollback, reboot.
