Re: DIY Lego drone kit

Yesterday, I passed the toy section at Walmart, and right at the beginning of one aisle there was the LEGO installation. Everything is basically 'made'. You only have to put it together. There look to be at least simple mods you could do between vehicles, and perhaps between them and bases (???), but you can't just make something, at least without casting out all the nose cones and cabins and wings and.....

As a kid/adolscent, I made some, in ways simple and in ways sophisticated in conception, cool ships with the basic lego set. They were mostly from a lunar base set we got for Christmas from Gramma and Grampa, which I mostly used after my bro got tired of playing with it. So there were dishes of a couple/few sizes, which were thrusters/part of thruster assemblies. I used the two or three wing types in various configuration, even doing forward-swept types. Simple, almost rocket-like, designs for secondary ships that would connect onto the big ship, space anime-style.

But I did imagine having pre-built LEGO designs, like a really accurate Enterprise, and all the connect points were essentially 'internal'. You'd maybe not even know it was LEGO. And I thought, 'well that's the thing'. LEGO is actually building things. The pre-set design wasn't generic, though the parts were.

Scifi frauds. SF illuminates.
