MAME179 - Joystick Map & HLSL

I'm using the Win32 version of MAME179.

When I enable HLSL filters, everything runs normal.

When I edit a specific game's ini 'joystick_map', the game runs and the controls are exactly as expected...but the HLSL filters get turned off.

I checked the ini and hlsl_enable is '1' in the ini.

Why would changing the joystick map overrider the hlsl setting?
