"Devil take the hindmost" (Allan Holdsworth's Heavy Metal Fatigue album)
Allan was one of the few along with Larry Carlton that could make the most of that instrument. iirc Allan was interviewed in some article I had read years earlier and missed the mouthpiece option which enabled him for reliable control with audio effects he could get from that instrument. I still say the synthaxe could be marketed again and with todays technology actually be much better than it was when released in mid 1980s.
An example that comes to mind is when Simmons drums first arrived in early 1980s and were immediately dissed at the time. imo it is just that the technology wasn't around back then and it took awhile before Roland was able to market their electronic drum sets starting in 2000 successfully because the TD series had lots more features and were more closer to behaving like real drums. It still took a while, but the Roland TD sets seem to be preferred in recording studio environment these days since engineers can adjust drum settings the way they want when a recording session takes place. As for live performances, it is better to still stay with acoustic drums.
