First off, obviously.... Find resources, make things, find/get more stuff, expand your territory, make something else cooler.
I mean, I'm playing Terraria. This is the first time I'm playing a game like this (well, other than that 2 or 3 year thing I had with Farmville, my sister invited me to play, don't judge!) And every time I end up playing for HOURS. Lately, I've been planning what I'd do for a particular play session before I start. Like, finish working on a few things, go look for whatever in this area... The next things I know; Uh-oh, monsters to fight... Then I'll find another new area, make or find something else, and now I need this special thing to make something so I can (whatever).
Or, let's redecorate (or make a variation of) this building. That'd look nice in smooth marble, then contrast it with (a) granite wall. Gotta have some glowing mushrooms for a subtle bit of light....
So, yeah. 'Guess I need to set a timer and just quit. And no coming back to it 2 hours later.
Crafting and resource management games = Time Vampires.
