It's like any other wire. You need to put flux on it and heat it up. The flux conducts heat really fast while 'eating' oxidation, allowing the solder to flow onto the wire. But you still have to get the joint to liquify first, and as I said before, adding more solder is the best way to do that. Add a dab, then stick the braid on there (with paste flux on it) and quickly stick the braid under the iron and press it onto the joint with the iron.

Home Depot, Radio Shack, Sears, most other places with tools that also have do-it-yourself electric stuff like ceiling fans and such...
