There are already a few artwork files with animated controls (HAPP push buttons, blinking volcano button LEDs, gear shifters). Working joysticks should be possible as well, but I haven't actually tried it yet. I'm currently working on (and have completed) adding shifters to some games that don't have them, but a lot of games don't support multi-state shifters yet. That would be a mammoth project, I think, for the devs to set that up for so many games. I'd be willing to work on it if they got me some sample code to make it happen and told me how to submit it to the project, but even then it would take some time to set the artwork files up. You'd also have to have good photos (or convincing 3D replications) of each joystick in all 9 positions, and that could be tricky.
What I'd also like to see is some kind of ability to have rotating steering wheels and incremented throttles (such as for Lunar Lander). Alas, if only I were a real coder...
