I believe in 0.172 you'll be able to set the keyboard to DirectInput instead of RawInput and then MAME will work with keyboard-injectors like Joy2Key and the on-screen W10 keyboard.
That said, you'll find the experience is miles better with a physical keyboard, be it Bluetooth or whatever.
