I got a chance to visit FunSpot arcade this summer and finally got a chance to play Space Zap! in an actual cabinet (my local arcade did not have it when I was a kid). One of the cool things about the cabinet is that is has a mirror on the back panel to show everyone around how good (or poorly) you're doing.
When I got home I thought, "I wonder if it's possible to simulate that in the MAME artwork?" After a little tinkering I found that it is possible to create a second screen that is a mirror image of the primary screen. Initially it was somewhat awkward to play as each screen is competing for your attention. Then I made the mirror image dimmer and slightly out-of-focus to emphasize that it was just a reflection and foreshortened it to show that the mirror is at an angle to the screen. It's a little gimicky, but I like it.
