I have a home wireless network, using a router which doesn't need replacing at the moment because nothing is capable of using newer protocols.
My PC now has no wireless, and is connected to the router physically.
This has left me unable to see the network on the PC, except through the router setup (192.168.1.1).
The PC created its own network rather than using the existing one. It seems to have left me unable to access other devices through it. There's a printer here somewhere, and the computer finds it when I try to print, but won't turn it on. It isn't detected as connected to the network, because it's on a different network, the wireless one. I can't access the homegroup, because THAT is on a different network. I think I have five things on that network, but my PC is all but blind to them.
Why can it sort-of see the printer? How can I get it on the network if it isn't detecting the network's existence?
My Laptop, having used the wireless connection, was able to see these other devices while wired.
