I'm afraid it's a lost cause. The backup archive is corrupt/incomplete and contains neither source nor compiled code.
With some effort, one could possibly get the sound effects and music playing in M1. The sound data is mostly intact but the 6502 program and instrument data are missing so they'd need to be copied from another System II/I game.
