And, I'm betting this was abstracted from a far less alarmist statement.
In December, Prof Stephen Hawking said that the development of full artificial intelligence "could spell the end of the human race".
This is interesting, though. Especially after watching the video, this brings up the rather old topic now of 'what kind of experience does embodiment provide that disembodiment does not?'
A human may not understand the game right off, but from at least age five will quickly note that things disappear when the ball strikes the wall, and will be curious to repeat the effect. A local view, rather than a generic global one, that the machine has - not to mention the machine not having a penchant for seeing order and all, not least not having curiosity. .....unless those qualities could somehow emerge in some structure of memory......
