PC gaming monitor?

I'm trying to help a friend put together a gaming PC.

He's never built a PC before, and while I've built every PC I've ever owned, I don't follow the latest technology when it comes to gaming.

He's got it in his mind that this is the monitor he needs to have and I almost puked when I saw the price...
