requesting a special build for mame
10/26/14 10:41 PM

Hey guys, err... first of all, I'm really sorry for not contributing to the forum with this topic, as it's merely a request, but it'd make me extremely happy if someone fulfill it. (Since I'm not skilled enough to do so...)

I'll try to be straight to the point. I like to post 1 credit clear gameplays to my channel as one of my hobbies, but to make sure I'll never get a game over, I use the help of rerecording features (Wikipedia can explain the process better than me):

Quote:

Re-recording is the act of using a save state while recording a tool-assisted speedrun ; by loading a saved version of a prior machine state during the emulation, the movie that is being recorded will be trimmed to the point in time at which this prior state was current, allowing one to continue recording the movie from that point. One of such occurrences is called a re-record or undo. It is used mainly to correct errors in the making of tool-assisted speedruns, and can only be done with an emulator that supports the use of save states while recording the player's input.

mame-rr is a build that can do rerecording, but it's very unstable, and trying to improve it would be TOO MUCH work. But, I'd like to request a special mame build that can do "encode only rerecording" (as in: .avi rerecording only). Basically the .avi in question would be able to discard "unwanted frames", as in: tossing away everything I did after the moment I loaded a state. Since I only really care about posting encodes to my channel, then a build like this would be more than sufficient for my needs.

So... is this a doable request? Again, I apologize for making this request and I'll understand if nobody is up to it. But I'm still hoping someone will want to help me. (It's not only for me though, maybe someone else would be interested in a build like this as well). So, I'll be looking forward to an answer!
