Person of Interest actually does a fairly reliably great job with tech. They had an episode where a character was supposed to obfuscate his IP and then meet someone on IRC. He was shown using SSH on a multi-head Ubuntu desktop to log into a remote system (thus hiding his real IP from people on IRC) and then running the classic command-line *ix IRC client, with real /join commands and everything.
I think we all know how 99% of Hollywood would've rendered that sequence (and I do mean *rendered*).
