I have to actually question your logic because of the fact that the GLSL system as it is currently, only requires you to point 1 option to said shader files and you're essentially done with the end result in place for you.
Your solution was "yeah, just mess with all the settings and you'll eventually get there" I don't see that as simple and getting him on his way.
And my experiences with SDL builds thus far are they're pretty much almost the same as baseline aside from some different options as far as operation and useability goes.
If I can get it setup from scratch and get it all working anyone can and that process is not all that different from baseline anyway.
At any rate, if spogghi or anyone else is hesitant to enter SDL land HERE are my HLSL settings for vertical.ini that I currently have in place. You'll need to find crt_shadow_mask.png and modified post.fx on your own.
