Ah yes, ZD-Net. Surely they have vetted their advice with Microsoft and gotten the go-ahead, and aren't just repeating some poorly-thought-out crap.

Because Microsoft are going to be absolutely falling over themselves to push security updates to machines that are behind multiple layers of company firewalls if not downright air-gapped. The fact that the point-of-sale version of XP has differences from the consumer version of XP greatly affects what issues Microsoft will feel obligated to fix.
Me, I'll just be over here laughing at you people who desperately cling to your decrepit OS like it's some sort of binkie or security blanket.
