I hope everyone who follows your advice remembers it was you who gave it to them. There's a very high probability that XP designed for point-of-sale system lacks all of the same components as in standard XP, and contains modifications in others. There's absolutely no guarantee whatsoever that any given update that gets installed won't utterly break your XP install.
This is entirely aside from the fact that point-of-sale systems always or almost always come with an actual support contract, which means that tweaking your registry to pull down these updates is ostensibly theft of services as well.
