On a recommendation, I read a book. I did. I read it. It was a fantastic read, one which I bet y'all would enjoy.
The Martian
It's about a guy who gets stranded on Mars, and has to McGyver a way to survive long enough for a rescue team to get back to Mars to save him. His day to day struggles and challenges. It's pretty awesome.
Written by a NASA geek, so the story is reportedly as accurate and realistic as can be.
The guy couldn't get a publisher, so he said "screw it" and self-published it himself... and after selling 35,000 copies that way, it caught the eye of a real publisher (who had previously told him to suck an egg), and now the story is a best seller destined to be a movie some day.
