Got my friend mess with MAME again last night. He is having the same issue as you have. I told him that some of the ROM's sets are redump, rename and others. Same thing for the samples and CHD's. He keep on thinking the old sets are still support and I keep on telling him to use the clrmamepro to make sure that he have the right sets. He was complaining over over again. I said hey it will take some time get use to this. Anyway I was teaching him how use the clrmamepro the right way. After that I got him set the mame64.exe and the ROM's path set up. I told him to check all the BIOS and device ROM's without the games that is listed first. Next check the main set of each games that he want to play that is showing on the left side (Main) not the right side (Clones). Anyway the Set Information is where to check the boxes at. Make sure that you hit Select None first. Pretty easy once that you get the hang of this. Take some time.
