Why? Just to give an example of how foolish this is, I'm going to start looking into 68000-based microcontrollers soon in order to bring up the Ensoniq MR synthesizer and ASR-10 sampler (the ASR was used by RZA to produce the classic Wu-Tang albums, so it's got some serious historical cred) but that same work will also light up a ton of currently useless fruit machines in MAME. You may not like playing them, but at least the ROMs will do something :-)
