After much waffling back and forth, I decided (at least for now) to use the same SSID and passphrase for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Since 5GHz has a lower range than 2.4GHz, this allows dual-radio devices to fall back to 2.4GHz if the 5GHz signal is too weak.
At the moment, as far as I know, the only 5GHz capable device I have is the Linksys WUMC710, which is 5GHz ONLY. So far, it's working great with my TiVo and PS3 attached to it.
Incidentally, I noticed a performance problem with the stock firmware that was installed in my new ASUS RT-AC68U. When I did online bandwidth speed tests from my 2.4 wireless N connected PC or laptop, the highest download speed I could get was around 1.5Mbps instead of the 15Mbps that was getting with my old ASUS RT-N16 router. Something is definitely broken.
The firmware that it shipped with was 3.0.0.4.374_4561. I just flashed it with Merlin 374.40 alpha 4 (the latest stable build for the RT-AC68U). The problem is totally gone.
