Do yourself a favor and at least make it up to the Starlight Zone. & No using the stage-select cheat.... eh, not that there is one.

With Sonic 2, most of the stages I'd try to get as many rings as possible - giving me the 'Perfect Bonus'. If I were to play it today I'd just be worried about getting to the end of the stage in a relatively short time. *i hate to say it but* Man, was I anal.

Sonic CD?... I had it way back in the day (or, when the Sega CD was cheap/dying), but not until the past few years did I learn that you had to go into the past version of the stages, find a machine or holographic projection thingy and destroy it to get the 'Good Future' versions of the stages. It's like a puzzle/maze in that you have to find the right places/paths to use your granted time-travel ability to run far and fast enough to go into the past or future. If you miss it or mess up -you're s.o.l.

eta: Oops. To answer your question: I don't know. Maybe just knowing you have what is considered to be a classic game is somewhat comforting.
