I'm a smart guy, but man this whole thing is confusing to a newb. Ive been lurking and reading stuff all over the net. Everyone tells you to do things differently. FAQs describe out of date programs that have been replaced. Please give me some solid advice. Here is my goal:
I would like to get a PC that will boot right into a nice front-end that looks decent and gives the choice of about 50 selected classic games. These may originate from multiple consoles. I want to be able to set it up once and have it work so my kids can use it. No loading emulators and then ROMs etc.
I dont want to try and emulate thousands of games, just a small bunch of the best. If I can get this working well, I'll build a cab for it and be done. I saw something about the hyperspin front end that looked good.
I dont have time to read the code, or get too deep into this. Surely it cant be that complicated? Im actually amazed you cant download a package... front end and games and all, ready to go.
Any help is appreciated. I have honestly read the FAQs etc. and I'm still lost. I downloaded all kinds of stuff from all over the net. Nothing was what I was looking for.
