On my 3:4 TV, I'm watching 3:4 content that is broadcast on both standard and HD channels. The HD channel pillarboxes the show, and everything during that show. When a 16:9 ad comes up during it, it has been letterboxed to fit the 4:3 format of the program, putting a box around it. But not all of that ad is widescreen; the advertisers have gone ahead and pillarboxed their ad, and things start getting out of hand.
Eventually, the old channels will actually be replaced by the new ones, and maybe everything will start to fit. Given the rollout delay for HD initially, I could be dead first.
