MAMEWorld Forums - EmuChat - Updating MAME roms

Hi there. First, I'll apologize in advance if this is the wrong forum, or this question has been asked a million times. I've been using emulators for a long time, but I'm relatively new to MAME. I use Hyperspin as a frontend, and the current version supports MAME 0.150. I have an entire MAME set which is compatible with MAME 0.122. The question I can't seem to get answered is how to get from a rom set compatible with MAME 0.122 to 0.150. I've looked at tutorials for clrmamepro and other stuff and am just getting more and more confused. I see mention of dat files (I found one for 0.150) and update rom sets (no idea where to found them or how to even use them). Could anyone be so kinda as to point me in the right direction?
