Just one correction: the D600 is a whole generation newer than the D700. The replacement for the D700 is the D800 with its massive resolution and correspondingly massive price. The D600 is a replacement for the D300. It still has plenty of resolution, and has a lighter plastic body. Its biggest drawback is that all the autofocus sensors are jammed into the middle of the frame - a few in the outer areas would make it a lot more useful, particularly with super-wide lenses.
