For a D-Pad (IMEO) I've found the Saturn to be the best for fighting games. The button layout is great too (although, I've always played with 3 of my fingers above the buttons rather than with my thumb). Good luck finding one that isn't so cheaply built that it lasts about a week. Some are very cheap, others are ridiculously high priced.
