Being curios and bored I decided to have a look at the Bios file sq-aflash.bin.

First thing I did was check it out in a hex editor and gathered the following information.

The official (I assume Award) file name for this bios is 2a69kd42.BIN

Back in the day I could search that and would have had a fair chance to find it. Now days you have to pay and pray! Sad

The other readable txt include:

Award Software International, Inc.
4.51 PG 12/31/98
Pentium II system A 440BX A

Also later in the file:

Award BootBlock Bios V.1.0
Copyright 1998

I quickly found out that Award Bios names are much like vehicle serial numbers. See:

http://www.wimsbios.com/awardnumbers.jsp

With that info I was shown that:

2a69k = Intel 440BX/ZX/GX

and

d4 = dfi

I soon found myself here:

http://www.dfi.com.tw/DFI-Lanparty/?biosCategorySelector=ARCHIVE

Wondering and making an educated? guess, I figured it had to be the P2XBL. I downloaded that bios and sadly found that dfi does modify their bios's.

I can only assume the company that made Savage Quest got those boards from dfi before they branded them with a custom Bios. ???

Anyway TrevEB later confirmed, that was the board and so it would seem that unless Stilleto can pull a 2a69kd42.BIN out of his hat, Mame would have to substitute or even rebuild the required file.

I personally think that TrevEB could do what he did again and get a good copy, but I don't know what that all entails.

There is no law in the arena
