So now we know how many italies it takes to change a light bulb.

In my last apartment, the overhead bathroom light didn't work when we moved in. I got up on a ladder to change the bulb and when I took the globe off, it was like a fishbowl, filled right to the top with water. Apparently there had been a water leak in the unit above some months before I moved in, and nobody bothered to investigate why the bathroom light had stopped working. Needless to say, by the time I got to it, the bulb was completely frozen in the socket and the whole fixture was a corroded mess.

Fortunately, it was a rental, so I just let the landlord know and let him deal with it (by gutting the bathroom a year later). I imagine if I'd been on the hook to fix it, it would have been a similar effort and cost.
