The refresh rate for Street Fighter II is set to 59.629403 Hz. Prior to MAME 0.127, the refresh rate was set to 60.0 Hz. My questions are: Why was this changed? (Or, if 59.629403 Hz is the correct value, why was it ever set to 60 Hz?) And why does Wikipedia still list it at 60 Hz? Yes, I know, anybody can edit Wikipedia. So, is there any other source (that has nothing to do with MAME or with emulation) where the value 59.629403 Hz is mentioned?
I don't have any idea about how the development of MAME and the reverse engineering works, so my questions are not supposed to be criticising anybody. I'd just like to know about the above things because I'm curious about what's up with the different refresh rates. It would be great if you could explain it to me.
