I read somewhere that the original He-Man line was cobbled together from the molds of several other failed toy lines, which is why it's such a random hodgepodge. I'm not sure if the homoerotic overtones were intentional or if it's just what happens naturally when you get a bunch of muscle-y prettyboys together.
