Wireless mice seem to be pretty power efficient. I have one at work that usually goes about a year between battery changes, with some pretty heavy use.
The only thing is that when they go, they do it at the worst possible time. The first time this mouse went on me, it was a Friday evening and I was cutting it pretty close for catching the commuter bus. All I had to do was check in my code and log out, and I just couldn't get to the button I needed to click with the keyboard. I ended up having to scramble to get a new battery, check in, and run like hell for the bus. Luckily it was running a bit late and I made it anyway.
