JMA is an SNES rom compression format Nach came up with (With my providing some input for the headers) back in 2001-2003ish. It is more or less a very slightly tweaked variant/reimplementation of the 7zip LZMA core with a completely different header structure. It was a format intended to be a portable single-file-per-archive (like gzip) alternative to 7zip which at the time in 2001ish did not have a stable/usable port for non-windows systems. Loading the files could probably be done using parts of the 7zip code, but now that 7zip is more stable and less win32-centric code than it used to be, it probably isn't necessary.
