And? That has nothing to do with the current topic. The statement "The original games didn't have square pixels" and the statement "MAME always stretches the screen vertically" are two completely unrelated issues that have nothing to do with each other. I mean, it's not that stretching the screen vertically has anything to do with emulating the correct look and feel of the games. The video options "Standard" and "Pixel aspect", they are about what you mentioned here. But my complain that vertical stretching cannot be disabled has nothing to do with the fact that pixels weren't square on old monitors.

Are you sure that on your PC it really looks like this here with black borders on all four sides, not just left and right?
