Money trumps "patriotism". It's even worse when a company is big on proclaiming its American pride yet outsources its labor, much less importing manufactured goods.

Speaking of patriotism, y'ever see where a lot of those cheap United States flags sold at WallyWorld are manufactured at? At first I laughed at the "Made In China" declaration...until it sunk in during this holiday weekend.

And in this tight economy people are forced financially to spend as little as possible for what appears to be quality goods. Or not buy durable goods and focus more on food, utilities and their own family needs.

It's just one big downward spiral. Which leads me to wonder: When will China cash in its own chips and really put a hurting on the U.S.? A company in New Kensington called "Leeds" is nothing more that one gaping gateway via cheap Chinese imports (its service is providing personalized corporate logo gear to its corporate clients).

It's not much of a vantage point but it does offer that much needed view into how bad things truly are. Labor is cheap in Commie China. And these "Americans" are willing to do business with those Commies? The irony? New Kensington is a dying town which is a mere shadow of its former self. And yet it prides itself on its own patriotism.

When will these be actual investment starting right here and right now? Of course it will cost much more money but, in the long term, the U.S. can regain its position as a manufacturing powerhouse. Like a junkie that knows that their next fix may be the last one, the corporations here really have to knock off their fixing on Red China or any other source of cheap labor overseas that is also lax on environmental and human standards. That cold turkey fix will also take a bit of courage just to endure that transition to true independence.

It can start right now: I will avoid buying crap at "Dollar Tree", yet another importer of crap'o'da'Chinee. And now I'm sounding like a true hick inhabitant (my dang GE scroll mouse and water bottle were made by Chinee labor...arrrrrrrrgh). ;-)

Hope your Memorial Day Weekend was safe and enjoyable!
