Curious if there's an effort to port Moogly's HLSL to linux/GLSL.
I've looked at cgwg's GLSL plug-ins but have had little success. I could only get it to work with a small subset of games up to a certain native resolution. Everything else (and there's a lot) just shows black. That could definitely be a case of "user error" and I'll probably re-visit it soon.
Not to diminish cgwg's hard work, I just liked the look of Moogly's HLSL work when I tried it out on windows. And best as I tried, I couldn't get the GLSL shaders to look like that.
Thanks for any information...
EDIT: Did another search, and found this post from a few months back:
HLSL itself (the MAME feature) has been immature and fairly buggy until quite recently, and its author is now proposing a fairly major shakeup of MAME rendering on all platforms. Both of those mean that a "premature" port would be wasted effort, and in the meantime cgwg is doing a fantastic job with his GLSL CRT shader so that's taken away the immediate pressure.
So... I guess I'll just sit back and wait for cool things to happen ![](//www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif)
