I've mentioned my affinity of the PBM PC 5150 as well as being an owner of a PCjr. The former hit the streets in 1981, the latter flop debuted in 1984.

Welpers, I found some killer technical dox that someone took the time to scan in. And what's interesting is that the IBM PC 5150 can be considered an open-source computer since its schematics and ROM-BIOS source code is freely provided.

Too cool! Check it out and see how the x86 platform got its humble start. ;-)
