the problem for such a type of discs (notice that the examined disc is far from being an isolated case: it is well known that PCE CDs had these weird layouts, and it's the reason why e.g. redump.org gave up for the moment with their dumping) is much more in extracting correctly the data than in convert them to a format like chd
anyway there is a group of developers (not related to MAME/MESS, but in contact with Arbee) which is working on a low level format for CDs that should be able to handle these discs (and other wild beasts like the CD-i Ready discs where all the data is in Track 1 pregap)... nobody knows when it will be ready, though, nor how the work is going
