Quote: When was the last time you heard anything of a Christian killing anyone in the name of their God?
Are you aware of a sect within the "pro-life" movement known as the "Army Of God"? You have these Christian terrorists gunning down physicians! In fact, these terrorists in Christ's name are so successful in what they do they're actively pandered to by current-day politicians. Mainly those within the Rapethuglican party.
There's something to think about: A political party that claims to be against terrorism turning a blind eye to present-day domestic terrorists just because they are on the "winning team". Revolting! But I digress.
I see no difference between homicidal "pro-lifers" and those who flew aircraft into the World Trade Center towers and removing them and thousands of lives from the landscape. All because their "god" told them it was okay. And that's just recent history.
Quote: Study religion all you want. Try looking for Faith.....
With all due respect, no one can sell religion to me via the guilt-tripping hard sell. I ain't buying it. I have no need for make believe and its blood-stained history. And it doesn't require much study of history. Just a little with some awareness thrown in. Thank goodness.
The irony is that you know the score. Denial must run deep among believers in order to keep within His good grace. Fortunately you're not totally in denial. That's a good thing.
Besides, according to your faith, your god created Satan. And then there's a fallen angel known as "Lucifer", the name meaning "bringer of light". It stands to reason that the idea of god and religion in general is a human invention back within its more savage and less knowledgeable years thousands of years ago and thus it's easy to spot the contradictions.
Interestingly enough we share the same views on other topics. In fact I share your views on the military industrial complex which profits from all of these jihads in whatever name. You are an intelligent and moral person just like a whole bunch of other people here. I dig that. I think you even dig retrogaming too and the preservation of that part of history. :-)
People need to see what they have in common and wonder why people would drive them apart. Usually those with a greedy interest in doing so at the expense of human life. Sometimes that means giving up and letting go of something that is an integral part of their life such as following the call of a divine promise with no empirical evidence to back it up.
It isn't easy. But, in the end, is genuinely rewarding for a life based in freedom and independence. It's worth a small period of pain to learn to do without. :-)
