Hey, some athletes won't wash their socks all season because they think it brings them good luck. Others have a lucky charm or pre-game ritual they do for the same reason.
Tebow's kneeling and "praying" (a.k.a. grandstanding) is just as superstitious. Plenty of other players do the sign of the cross, point to the sky, whatever. Most teams have a group prayer in the locker room before the game, and Tebow isn't the only player praying during the game.
If the cameras weren't waiting for Tebow to take a knee after each touchdown, and if the media director didn't switch to that camera, then his gesture wouldn't even be an issue.
Tebow's kneel is good for ratings, and that's why he gets the television time while he's doing it.
