Because we aren't Apple fanboys. At one time I installed QT lite, I think it was called. It was much less intrusive than QT. I do not normally run across too many MOV files so I don't want QT installed. If I do, I can just use FFMPEG's codecs to play through WMP or just use FFMPEG to convert to a standard MPG file.
I don't install any Apple software either. I don't like the way it want's shit to run at startup, check for updates, take over file associations, etc. I know it is not just Apple that does this. Adobe and Java are just as bad if not worse.

I wish people who wrote software understood that just because I install it doesn't mean I need it to slow down my boot time just so you can load your software faster. Microsoft has gotten much better at limiting their stuff so they can achieve faster boot times. I wish MS would make it impossible for anything to run at startup unless you choose to do so.
